About ASEAN TELMIN

The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers (TELMIN) Meeting is a Ministerial-level event which is annually organized by ASEAN. It is a platform for promoting the cooperation in Information Communication and Technology between the 10 ASEAN Member States and between ASEAN and Dialogue Partners as well as Developmental Partners. The ICT cooperation areas focus on infrastructure development, human capital development, bridging the digital divide, economic transformation, innovation and people empowerment and engagement. The ASEAN TELMIN is scheduled to be held annually and will rotate among ASEAN Member states as host on an alphabetical order. In addition, the TELMIN Chair also rotates annually among all members. Therefore, the in-coming chair is to host the annual meeting as the usual practice. Cambodia host the 17th ASEAN TELMIN and Related Meetings with Dialogue and Developmental Partners for the year 2017 which is held from 27 November to 02 December 2017 in Siem Reap, Cambodia. With the theme “ICT Connectedness and Readiness: Towards a Digitally Integrated Community”, the 17th ASEAN TELMIN will be an important platform to further strengthen the existing collaboration in maximizing the potential of ICT towards progressive development of the region with the direction of ASEAN ICT Masterplan 2020 (AIM2020). This year, TELMIN will laid a strong foundation in propelling ASEAN towards a digitally-enable economy that securre sustainable, and tranformativebe. It is significant as it will enable an innovative, inclusive and integrated ASEAN Community. The 17th ASEAN TELMIN will be preceded by the 18th ASEAN Telecommunication and Information Technology Senior Officials Meeting (18th ASEAN TELSOM) for preparations of Ministers meeting. Both ASEAN TELSOM and TELMIN will be held back to back with the sessions with the Dialogue and Developmental Partners​.
